Navigating University Transition - CampusConnect partner community events 2024

The transition to university life is such an exciting and yet challenging journey for most new students. At CampusConnect, we understand the complexities of this transition, and this cycle we are once again committed to working closely with our university partner teams to provide a comprehensive support programme for all incoming undergraduates, international, and postgraduate student communities. Through our partnership with Staffordshire University, we've curated a month-by-month guide to help students navigate this important phase of their academic journey.

How It Works: Staffordshire University

Working closely with the recruitment, admissions and marketing teams at Staffs., our community event programme for 2024 operates through collaboration with several dedicated teams, each playing a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the programme (see above upcoming team event schedule for 2024).

Each team at Staffordshire University actively engages students through a variety of community events, including live chats, streamed events, and in-person interactions upon students' arrival on campus. They also foster engagement through dedicated online groups, tailored to each team's expertise, facilitating discussions and sharing valuable resources. Additionally, team members can choose to make themselves available for one-to-one messaging and chat sessions, providing personalized support and guidance to students as they navigate academic, accommodation, financial, and social aspects of university life. Through these comprehensive engagement strategies, Staffordshire University ensures students receive the individualized assistance and resources they need to thrive during their university journey.

Month-by-Month Transition Events

May: Course-Specific Guidance

As students prepare to embark on their university studies, it's essential to have a clear understanding of their chosen courses. In May, course-specific guidance sessions are facilitated to help students familiarize themselves with the curriculum, academic requirements, and expectations. Whether it's choosing modules, understanding assessment criteria, or exploring career pathways, Staffs’ advisors (ambassadors, alumni and staff) support applicants via both ongoing chats and live events.

June: Exam Preparation Tips

With exams on the horizon, June is a critical month for applicants to sharpen their study skills and continue their preparation effectively. Through the Staffs. community exam prep. workshops and resources, students gain valuable insights into effective study techniques, time management strategies, and stress management techniques.

July: Accommodation Advice

Securing suitable accommodation is a top priority for many incoming students. In July, the community events focus turns to accommodation advice, supporting applicants in navigating the housing market and finding their ideal living arrangements. From on-campus residences to off-campus options, current students/ambassadors lean on their experience to offer guidance on everything from budgeting and contract negotiation to roommate compatibility and safety considerations.

August: Financial Guidance

Financial concerns can often weigh heavily on students' minds as they prepare for university life. In August, financial guidance sessions help students understand their funding options, budget effectively, and make informed financial decisions. Whether it's applying for scholarships, accessing student loans, or managing day-to-day expenses, Staffs. money and guidance advisors provide personalized support to answer questions, alleviate financial stress and ensure students can focus on their study prep.

September: Student Life Insights

As the academic year commences, September marks the beginning of students' university experience. In this pivotal month, we offer valuable insights into student life at Staffordshire University, from campus facilities and extracurricular activities to social events and support services. Through orientation sessions, campus tours, and student panels, we help students acclimate to their new environment and feel a sense of belonging within the university community.
